Financial Support

The Department offers financial aid in the form of teaching and research assistantships to all admitted PhD students who need financial aid. The support will be provided for up to five years provided that the student maintains good standing in the program. All students receiving financial aid receive tuition waiver.  Please see the PhD Handbook for additional details.

Summer Financial Support for Research
Competitive summer financial support will be provided to select PhD students during their early stages of dissertation research or more advanced students whose research show great promise.

Financial Support for Presentations
The Department provides partial financial support for student presentations at professional meetings. Students should submit a request for support to the Director of Graduate Studies as soon as is possible. This facilitates planning on the use of a limited budget. Requests for support should be combined with a request to the Graduate School for travel support to a professional meeting.  Students are also strongly encouraged to apply for partial financial support from one or more relevant funding sources on campus from the following list:

(2) Graduate School travel presentation scholarships:
