Mizzou alum John Charles Willett (BS 1995 in economics) was killed on September 11th, 2001 in the terrorist attacks on New York City. He worked at a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald and his office was on the 101st floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center.
To commemorate his life, family and friends established the John Charles Willet Memorial Scholarship, to recognize outstanding undergraduate students who have served as mentors or tutors to fellow students.
The 2019 Willet Scholarship recipients, seniors Christian Cmehil-Warn and Bryce Fuemmeler, paid their respects at the Mizzou Patriots Day wreath ceremony. Christian leads a freshman interest group for the Honors College and Bryce is a peer learning assistant in Econ 3229 (Money and Banking).
Mizzou economics honors the victims and heroes of 9-11 and thanks the Willett family and friends for the opportunity to honor the memory of John Charles Willett.
