Empirical Microeconomics\Education Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Department of Economics at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position with an appointment for up to 3 years.
The search process will emphasize the potential to conduct research leading to high-level academic publications in applied microeconomic fields. Candidates are expected to have strong quantitative backgrounds suitable for applied research and experience working with large datasets. Previous education-related research (e.g., on economics of education and/or education policy topics) will be viewed positively, but is not necessary. Strong written and communication skills are important.
The responsibilities for the Postdoctoral position are as follows:
1. Program-directed research on applied topics, likely in the areas of economics of education and education policy. The Fellow is expected to be a key contributor and coauthor on program-directed projects.
2. Self-directed research.
3. Teaching in the Fellow’s area of expertise or a related area (initially up to 2 courses per year).
The Postdoctoral Fellow will also be expected to participate in scholarly life on campus and in the larger discipline by, for example, inviting speakers and attending local seminars, presenting research at national research conferences, and interacting with faculty and graduate students on campus.
Qualifications: The Fellowship is open to candidates who have earned or will earn their PhD by September 1st, 2020. Please submit your electronic application including a CV; a cover letter describing your interest in and fit for the position; your job market paper; a one-page statement on intellectual freedom, diversity and inclusion that describes your professional commitment to these ideals; and three letters of reference (apply at Job Openings for Economists ID Number: 2019-02_111464558).
