Brittany Street is the winner of the 2022-2023 Alumni Leaders Board Award for excellence in research, teaching, and service. Street is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Public Policy; her research focuses on the economics of crime. Recent publications include: “Criminal Justice Involvement, Self-Employment, and Barriers in Recent Public Policy “ (Finlay, Mueller-Smith, and Street) in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management; and “The Effect of Own-Gender Juries on Convictions” (Hoekstra and Street) in the Journal of Law and Economics. Street teaches Intermediate Microeconomics and a doctoral seminar on applied research methods; and regularly advises undergraduate research projects. She also leads a team of Mizzou researchers in producing an annual report on disparities in traffic stops for the state of Missouri.
The Alumni Leaders Board is composed of dedicated alumni for the purpose of strengthening the educational and research missions of the Department; this $5,000 award is made possible by generous gifts from the board members.
