The Department is proud to recognize Dr. Seunghoon Lee and Dr. Allison Brodie as recipients of the Fall 2026 Department Awards for their excellence in research and teaching.

Dr. Seunghoon Lee received the Ted and Peggy Murray Research Award for his outstanding scholarly contributions. Lee's research examines environmental, urban, and housing economics, with recent work exploring topics such as food waste policy, sea level rise and housing markets, and how households adapt to environmental challenges. His growing body of research continues to advance knowledge in areas with important policy and societal implications, and the Department is particularly proud of his forthcoming paper in Review of Economics and Statistics.

Dr. Allison Brodie received the Walter Johnson Teaching Award in recognition of her exceptional commitment to student success. Brodie teaches 14 to 16 sections of Principles courses online each year, reaching as many as 720 students annually. Her dedication to delivering engaging, high-quality instruction has made a lasting impact on hundreds of students and exemplifies excellence in teaching.
