Reece Calia, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, is a graduating senior majoring in both Economics and Finance, with a minor in Real Estate, and certificates in Investments and Corporate Finance. During the spring 2025 semester, he interned remotely with Spring Venture Group, a Kansas City-based health insurance brokerage firm. As a Financial Analyst Intern, he gained hands-on experience analyzing labor economics, departmental performance metrics, financial forecasting, and analyzing broader economic influences, all while supporting the strategic initiatives of the company. Reece’s supervisor noted that, ‘his impact was noticeable not only in his quality of work, but also in our team culture in that he always brought a positive attitude to meetings and new tasks.’ He also cited Reece’s communication skills, openness to feedback, drive, and ability to contribute to multiple projects (including some that made it up to the C-suite) as his key strengths.

Reece’s performance led to a full-time job offer and he will be joining Spring Venture Group as a Financial Analyst in June 2025. Calia stated that one of his favorite Economics classes at Mizzou, as well as one that greatly prepared him for his role at Spring Venture Group, was Economics 4328, Financial Economics.
