Undergraduate student John Martin takes his next career step at Harvard!

Congratulations John!!
MU Economics

Congratulations to John Martin, a Spring 2025 graduate, on starting the next chapter as a predoctoral research assistant at Harvard University. While at Mizzou, John majored in economics, mathematics and statistics, and gained extensive research experience for which he was one of only 14 recipients to receive the Award for Academic Distinction university wide.

John was a McNair Scholar his junior year, completing an independent research project studying the rollout of Medicaid on uninsurance rates and costs under Dr. Brittany Street. He participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) at Southern Methodist University (SMU) over the summer in 2024 and continued his research experience as Dr. Street’s research assistant, collaborating with economists at UCLA in his senior year.

John will join Harvard as a predoctoral researcher under Dr. Gordon Hanson and Dr. Dani Rodrik on a project titled Reimagining the Economy.  He has plans to pursue a PhD in economics in the near future. We wish John the best of luck and look forward to following his promising career!
