Women’s Intersport Network (WIN) for Columbia has awarded Economics very own, Oksana Loginova with the Gladys Stankowski Sportswoman of the Year Award.
WIN for Columbia is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization established in 1994 to inspire, promote and support participation by girls and women of all ages in athletic and physical fitness activities. At its annual luncheon, it features a Parade of Champions celebrating Columbia high school female student athletes who achieved top results in state championships, and recognizes leading figures on the local scene in categories such as Female Coach of the Year, Collegiate Sportswoman, etc. The Gladys Stankowski Sportswoman of the Year Award is given to a woman who demonstrated athletic achievement within the past year, community involvement, and a commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle.
This year Dr. Loginova won the 24-hour Lions Roar run. She covered an unimaginable 112.5 miles, winning the race overall, across both men and women. It is hard to find a person with a more active lifestyle than Dr. Loginova! She commutes to campus by bicycle, does at least one high intensity interval training (HIIT) rowing workout a day, and has introduced dozens of her friends to rowing. She practices both “regular” yoga and acrobatic yoga with her husband as her partner. She also applies her active lifestyle to her teaching at Mizzou: Dr. Loginova incorporates yoga breaks into her in-person classes to help students recharge and refocus.
We congratulate Dr. Loginova on her Sportswoman of the Year Award and wish her success in her future sport endeavors!
