Research

Lauren Tonti is a legal epidemiologist and senior public health law research consultant in the Department of Economics' health policy lab.

A public health lawyer by training, Lauren examines the intersections of law and public health through a social determinants of health lens. Lauren previously served as a Public Health Analyst contracted with the Office of Public Health Law Services (OPHLS) within the Public Health Infrastructure Center at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this role, Lauren provided vital technical assistance to state, tribal, local, and territorial partners and conducted comprehensive legal epidemiology research and analysis on a variety of public health topics. As a doctoral candidate and scientific researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law & Social Policy, she conducted comparative and global health law research examining the legal determinants of telehealth quality and pandemic preparedness.

Lauren holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve School of Law. Lauren is also a member of the New York State Bar.
